CHRIS RANEY

CHRIS was born on August 16, 1968 and grew up in Brownfield, Texas and graduated from Brownfield High School in 1986. He graduated from Abilene Christian University where he received his degree in Accounting. After college he moved to Lubbock and began his career in real estate. He has worked as a self-employed real estate appraiser since 1995. 

Chris met his wife Lisa at Sunset, and they were married in December 1996. They have been members at Sunset since 1996. They have three children and two grandchildren. Their two daughters, Kaytlin Garner and husband Jesse live in Edmond OK, and Maggie Cates and husband Caleb live in Lubbock. Their son Reagon Raney also lives in Lubbock. 

Chris served as a deacon in both the children and youth ministries before becoming an elder in May 2026 

Chris enjoys many outdoor activities, but his main hobby is playing golf. He also likes anytime spent with friends and family. His favorite scripture is Romans 15:13.
