ANDY TURNER 

ANDY was born September 22, 1954 in Lubbock, TX and has lived in Lubbock 68 of his 71 years. His family were Lubbock pioneers having moved here 1920 when the population was 4,051. He graduated from Lubbock Christian High School and Dana (Nimmo) graduated from high school in La Junta, CO where she was raised on a farm. He met Dana at Lubbock Christian College where they both graduated with degrees elementary education. 

He taught elementary school for three years then spent forty-plus years in banking, with his last eighteen years as president of Peoples Bank on 34th Street. Dana was involved in education her entire career. He and Dana are retired. He and Dana married on March 6th, 1981 and have four children; Celeste Turner, Calli Gay and her husband Jordan, and Connar Turner all of Lubbock, and Carly Carpenter and her husband Travis of Tuscola, TX. Andy and Dana have 14 grandchildren. He attended Sunset since junior high school and he and Dana have attended Sunset for over 30 years. 

Andy enjoys being with his giant family, watching Texas Tech football, Texas Ranger baseball and sitting in a lawn chair listening to the quiet on their small acreage in Ovalo, TX. His favorite scripture is Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
