For 30 years God had been sending Jeremiah to the Jews, calling them to repent or face some terrible consequences.  They rejected God’s message and tried to destroy His messenger.  But Jeremiah continued to speak.  His message included bondage and exile in the far-away land of Babylon, but even there blessings were promised by the sovereign God, if only the people would search for Him.
