After God called and then equipped Jeremiah to preach, the young prophet began his ministry by speaking words of judgment to his countrymen. The people of Judah were exceedingly sinful and needed to know that they were very deserving of their coming judgment. Still, God used His prophet to offer hope to the penitent.
